    Testimonials

    Jason Haynes-Clark :
Sheryl's calm presence and close attention to Jennifer allowed me to trust the process and reduced my anxiety in challenging moments. I felt more calm because I knew she was helping Jennifer to feel more calm. In addition, she kept an eye on me, periodically reminding me to eat, get some juice, or take a break.

Uniting the calm sense of peaceful concentration that is this practice with every day living, awakening

bhekasana_smallThis practice awakens the mind to the body and the spirit of life.  The tradition of yoga comes from India, and is a practice of breaking down barriers, uniting that which we see as separate.  There are many forms and styles of yoga, but the aim is universal.  The practice is a meditation, training the mind to concentrate and move beneath distraction, of which there is so much in our lives.

The practical benefits of regular yoga practice are incredibly broad.  Release from stress,  increased circulation, flexibility and strength, confidence, improved sexual function, lower blood pressure, relief from back pain, deeper breathing, better balance.....  the list goes on, and is completely for real.  We could all use a regular practice of yoga.

eka_pada_rajakapotasanaYou do not need to be young or flexible or even able to walk to practice yoga.  The breathing practices are profound and these alone will create change in you life if taken on as a regular practice.  Gentle stretching and movement awareness can be exactly what you need to invite a shift into your body and life.  On the other hand, a yoga practice can be an intense physical adventure, including a flowing vinyasa practice building upper body and core strength, deep stretching, inversions, arm balances, and deep twists.  Your yoga class can be cardiovascular exercise, heart pumping, sweat dripping.  Or it can simply be a seated meditation, a focus of the mind on breath.

There is a class and a teacher for every person interested in trying out yoga.  You may benefit from a private class, in which your teacher works with you to discover what you would most like to get from your practice.  From this, she can recommend the perfect class, or create a routine for your own personal practice.
