Working as a doula has been a calling in Sheryl's life. While persuing a degree in Human Development at the University of California, San Diego, Sheryl was asked to help at a birth. The experience was life changing, and after giving birth to her second child in 2004 she was asked again to help at a birth. This time she decided to get some training, beyond her years of experience in massage therapy and yoga instruction. She attended a DONA approved doula training, and completed their certification process. Since then, Sheryl has attended births all over the Rogue Valley, and she is currently an Ashland Community Hospital employee, on call as a doula.|
"Sheryl helped at our daughter's birth and we are so thankful that she was there as our doula. In addition to supporting us through labor with massage, different position ideas, and encouragement, Sheryl helped us navigate unexpected decisions and variations from our intended birth plan with confidence and peace. She also helped interface with the nurses and family members so that we could focus fully. We are so grateful for her care and support through the pregnancy and birthing process. Our experience was greatly improved by having Sheryl at the birth of our daughter." |

"Sheryl was an indispensible part of Elsa's birth. Her calm, peaceful presence kept both Jonathan and me at ease and focused. She helped so much by offering ideas to make me more comfortable and by soothing me with massage between contractions. Sheryl is very skilled at facilitating a family experience in the birthing setting - supporting and adding to, not taking away from, my husband's role as my main birth partner. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Sheryl and would choose her as our doula again. " |
