Yoga is the practice of being present in your body; a meditation on the experience of being right here, right now.
During pregnancy, while the body and emotions are constantly changing, the practice of yoga is invaluable in creating a calm center. In these classes, women come together and share their experience. We practice movements which create comfort, strength and confidence in the body. Yoga practice can help to ease the discomforts of pregnancy, including low back pain, swollen feet, shortness of breath, sciatica, depression, and insomnia, as well as many other symptoms.
Breathwork, meditative focus, and freedom to move with confidence are powerful tools for
the laboring woman. In class, we learn rhythmic breathing patterns and positions which can help in the delivery of your child.
Any level of experience is welcome. Many women begin yoga classes during pregnancy, and are grateful for thisa grounding practice throughout motherhood. More experienced yoginis will benefit greatly from learning the subtleties of breathwork, pelvic floor awareness, and variations of vinyasa and asana customized to the pregnant body.
"Yoga practice has been my joy, my solitude, the place I can go for a few peaceful moments to enjoy being in my body. I credit my years of yoga practice to the ease with which my body transitioned through pregnancy, labor, and motherhood. It has been my passion to share this practice with women because I truly believe in what I do. " Sheryl Grunde - MamaYoga instructor
